MARIA SERENA JÄRVINEN

Maria is a long-time dance professional with a diverse background as a dancer, teacher, choreographer, and producer. She has trained in dance and rhythmic movement both in Finland and abroad. Although dance is now more of a hobby for her, music and movement remain an essential part of her identity. Maria’s teaching style is relaxed, humorous, and personal, and her distinctive touch can be seen in choreographies featured on television, in music videos, and in dance competitions.

In her classes, the focus is on street dance styles such as hip hop and dancehall, as well as show dance and other performance-oriented styles. Her teaching combines technical training with discussions that explore the cultural background of each style – what is danced, where, and why. Choreographies are built from style-specific movements and musical interpretation, reflecting Maria’s unique fusion style. The goal of her classes is to develop technique, expression, and an understanding of the distinctive movement language of dance – to find connection to the music, the movement, and one’s own dance voice.
